Christchurch - Appeal for information following armed robbery

Detectives in Christchurch are appealing for witnesses and anyone with any information to come forward in confidence after an armed robbery in a shop in Christchurch, where members of staff were threatened with a gun.

At around 10pm on Wednesday 23 August, a man entered the One Stop store on Barrack Road, Christchurch, via the rear of the building. He is described as being between five foot six inches and five foot ten inches tall, of medium to stocky build with dark coloured facial hair.

He was wearing a black top - possibly with a hood - with the letters CAT written on the chest, blue jeans, white trainers, light coloured latex gloves and a balaclava.

Detective Constable Martyn Davidson, of Christchurch CID, said: "The man threatened staff with a brown coloured hand gun and demanded money from the store, he then left the store with a sum of money by the rear exit and ran off towards Elizabeth Avenue.

"This is a very rare occurence and everything is being done to find the man responsible, including now asking members of the public for help.

"I'm appealing for anyone who may have seen this man in the Barrack Road and Elizabeth Avenue area before or after the robbery to contact Dorset Police.

"I'd also like to hear from anyone else with any other information about this incident, perhaps someone saw a man acting suspiciously in the area or suspects they know who this man is, all call are treated in the strictest confidence," added Detective Constable Davidson.

Witnesses and anyone with any information should contact Dorset Police on 01202 222 222 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.

Weymouth - Appeal for information following three separate incidents of women being indecently assaulted

POLICE APPEAL FOR PUBLIC HELP AFTER THREE SEPARATE INCIDENTS OF WOMEN BEING INDECENTLY ASSAULTED IN WEYMOUTH.

Police in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses and information from the public after three reports of women being indecently assaulted by a man in the town.

At 6.30 pm on Thursday 17 August 2006 an 18 year old Weymouth woman was walking along Dorchester Road, near the Rembrandt Hotel in the town when a man put his hand on her breast as he walked past.

At 7.30pm on Monday 21 August, 2006, a 45 year old Weymouth woman was walking along Radipole Park drive when a man came out of the gardens and put his hand on her breast as he walked past.

At 2.35pm on Sunday 27 August 2006 another 45 year old Weymouth woman was walking along Dorchester Road when a man standing on a street corner took hold of her breast before running off along Fernhill Avenue.

Police Constable Dawn Nesbitt of east Weymouth police, said: “Because all three incidents are somewhat similar, I can’t rule out the possibility of the same man being responsible for all three incidents.

“Such offences are quite unusual in Weymouth and there’s no doubt that this was quite an upsetting experience for the victims - who were not threatened or physically injured in any way by the man,” explained PC Nesbitt.

The assailant is possibly 5 ft 11 inches tall and between 20 and 35 years of age - foreign looking or with a slight German accent and short hair. He was wearing a lilac or blue T-shirt, shorts and either sandals or flip-flops.

PC Nesbitt continued: “It’s very important that I find the man, or men responsible for these distressing incidents. I’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed any of these incidents, and from anyone else with any information about the man responsible.

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police on 01305 222 222 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
