Her assailant, Lenworth (Lenny) Shaun Yorke (38)took his own life immediately following the shooting. Yorke was the former partner of Margaret Kidd, the couple had two daughters to the relationship who are aged 18yrs and 15yrs.
The police can confirm that there was a previously reported domestic issue over four months ago between the two, which was investigated by the police.
Despite no further reported incidents the police have maintained contact with Margaret, as recently as Sunday 10th September 2006 when Margaret spoke to a police officer and expressed no concerns or fears.
The police are concentrating on trying to identify what caused this unexpected escalation of violence resulting in their tragic deaths.
At this stage we are not 24 hours into the investigation and it is far too early to start commenting on speculation over motive or history.
Our hearts go out to the families of both the individuals but in particular the two daughters who have lost both parents in such traumatic circumstances.
